Easy Message Board on a Budget

I made this large, fancy message board last night out of supplies I had laying around the house. You can make your own For Free if you have cardboard, some fabric, and a frame handy.

All you truly need is some cardboard and fabric. The frame adds a nice touch but it's not necessary. I cut out a second piece of cardboard and taped it to the frame back so the push pins have plenty of substance to go through.

This is little more than wrapping cardboard in fabric. You can adhere it with staples or glue but tape worked fine for me and if you're a lazy crafter like I tend to be it will work for you, too! Make sure it's taught.

There's so much room for embellishment with this simple craft. I used inexpensive cotton muslin because I like the light texture and wanted whatever was on my message board to stand out.

Sexify Your Bulletin Board:
  • Cut the cardboard in fun shapes
  • Wrap ribbon around the board to slip in post cards, letters, bills, etc.
  • Use bright, fun fabric or change the fabric to match the seasons
  • Glue flowers, toys, and other fun bits to the push pins so they match your message board
  • Can't find necklaces or earrings? hang your favorites artistically from pins on your new bulletin board
Us thrifters acquire post card, photos, and other fun bits that that deserve to be displayed. I have a few more unoccupied frames, so I'll be busy making more of these easy and cheap bulletin boards this weekend. Get some cardboard and get busy making your own, too!

Note:  I finally bought www.thriftcore.com! Update your links if possible. More sexy new features are on the way.
