Longing for Spring? Let's Plot over Urban Garden Inspiration

Do you close your eyes and drift into fragrant thoughts of picking ripe tomatoes and basil for caprici salad and herbs to dry for tea? I can't be alone here! My garden full of fresh herbs and vegetables is in planning, so I'm using images snapped from recent strolls through my charming neighborhood as a muse. I'm inspired by food gardens in unexpected places:

What are you plotting to grow this year? I just ordered some composting worms and I'm excited to share an easy DIY on making vermi and regular compost bins next week!

  1. I'm so jealous! We just got about 8" of snow yesterday! Ugh!

    1. This our only chance to enjoy "spring-like" weather before temperatures soar. Haven't seen snow in years down here, don't envy northern states and the snow to endure!

  2. I love the potted gardens by the brick buildings!

    1. Me too, I love the mix of colors and textures!

  3. Getting ready to plant lots of beans and root vegetables. Also...I'm starting on pumpkins. To me, there's nothing better than pumpkins. The sooner I can eat them, the better!

    1. Yum! I need to get to your roost to collaborate on growing. You've definitely go the land to feed your whole family if you planned it well :)

  4. where there is a will, there is a way! Great photos! My seeds and potato tubers are on their way though won't be planting outdoors until at least the end of the month.

    1. Oh, I love your plant-filled blog. So inspiring! The tenacity of an urban gardener to grow ample food in tight spaces and the juxtaposition of the concrete jungle and the plant fauna will always inspire me.

  5. I've basically give up on green things. Vegetables, flowers, herbs, I kill them all.

I have plans to attempt sunflower's this year. Possibly some moss roses and/or petunia. Not even going to aim for anything edible again.

    1. When I know I can't grow 'em without killing 'em I take a break, too. This year I have help and I'm ready to get back to it! I need to get some sunflowers seeds in the ground, thanks for the reminder ;)
