Thrift Haul: Paint by Numbers, Groovy Lamps, Free Furniture, and More

Lots of free has made its way to me this weekend! Quite good, 'cause that makes up for my splurges from the antique mall. I supported my fellow vendors and picked up a few gorgeous mod goods that are acting as my muses at the moment. The mod pebble art above was a score from a yard sale that was packing up.

This side table is mostly solid wood but surprisingly lightweight and the drawers work perfectly. It's in front of Southern Crossing antique mall for a low price waiting for its new owner. All the lamps around it were free, the matching set is from my boyfriend's mom. The base lights up as well as the top! They're in Southern Crossing right now, the plain white one needs repair first.

This mid century modern shaped side table is press board and was a steal from a yard sale. It's in really shabby shape, I'll have to peel off the faux laminate and do some work on it. Not sure if I'll decoupage it or just apply a nice sheet of woodgrain paper.

I found this pair of fawn paint by numbers at Southern Crossing for less than you might find them at Thrift Stores these days. I'm selling the set for $45.00 on Etsy but you can buy the set from me for $26.00. -----> On Etsy

I was granted these candelabras for free but they're a bit fussy to be my style. I'm selling them for $6.00 for the pair to anyone who's interested!

My favorite find was this mod desk lamp, I'm enjoying its warm glow as I scribe this post! It was the muse behind my Etsy banner re-design. Quite pleased with it! It's $45.00 on Etsy but you can buy it from me for $26.00 via the blog! -----> On Etsy

The next score, this damn sexy vintage wind up tin toy, it's still in the box and includes the package! I fell in love with the designs, it's such a fun piece. It's $20.00 on Etsy but you can have it for $12.00. -----> On Etsy

This adorable resin deer with two attached babies was a neat find from the antique mall, you rarely find these in such good shape with the babes attached. -----> On Etsy

And from the same vendor, these adorable ceramic monkey mugs. Had to satisfy my mug fetish of course! -----> On Etsy

These two science books are absolutely gorgeous in person, I love the classic 50s look, the illustrations, and how flipping through the pages evokes memories of study sessions in school libraries. You can own the pair for $13.00 via the blog. --> On Etsy

This shelf was another lovely yard sale steal. I was going to put it in Southern Crossing but I've grown fond of it on my desk. It would make a nice spice rack, too. I've arranged most of the week's finds into a nice still life around my workspace that's making me happy as I write and edit photos.

SALES and such: It's ALL for sale, so e-mail me if you'd like to buy anything you see. I've been making group deals and general deals on my Etsy items for blog readers, e-mail if there's anything you like! If you're local and would like to see the furniture e-mail me for an appointment.

  1. Great finds! Would you believe I actually had that same Mama deer set when I was a kid? My grandparents brought it back from some vacation.

    1. Aw, that's awesome! I love seeing bits from my childhood in thrifts. A smidgen ironic since most bits from my childhood were from the thrifts, haha.

  2. The bunny with the eyes is creepy as hell and the little deer family are adorable as hell! Love the eclectic mix of stuff this week.

    1. Haha, I get "so damn cute" or "so damn creepy" reactions to my bunny all the time, but he's one of my favorite things ever. Makes sense with me being a huge fan of the horror genre. :D !

  3. Oh I love this haul Van, goodness me though I'd love a treasure hunting trip with you. If I ever make it over there ill be sure to let you know lol. The telephone table could be handy if you kept for staging photos, but a spruce is still in need. I love the sweet fawn pics and the tin toy.

    1. Ah ha, is that what it is? It's in desperate need of work before it sees the light of day again though, that's for sure ;)

    1. Thanks! :) Been trying to stage/use/photograph the vintage I find in my home more. It definitely helps me get in the mind of my buyer and just serves as excellent inspiration. Muse-rific!

  5. Well, I didn't have much luck this weekend. I went out on Saturday but only found one thing for myself (a music CD) and not much for the booth. Sometimes I find myself gravitating towards items I wouldn't normally purchase just to justify the time and gas I spent, but then I remember about the stash waiting for me at home and I reconsider. This was one of those weekends. Always nice to have a stash, even when we curse at ourselves everytime we are frustrated with the clutter. =)

    1. I try to be the same about bringing home stuff, super selective. Hard when it's abundant and cheap, though. I've got quite the stash to list, too. Gotta get to it!

  6. The deer are classic. I never knew those particular deer with the chains existed - too cute. I find the lamps creepy. My (ex) step mom was obsessed with those lamps & had them all over the house & when it came down to it, she was just a CREEP.

    1. The rose ones? I prefer mod myself but they should sell nicely in Southern Crossing. And they were free, can't beat free :D

  7. I love the mod desk lamp and the deer! You always find the most amazing lamps! And I'd love to know how you end up fixing up the press board side table. I passed up the cutest desk (it had bow-shaped drawer pulls!) at the thrift store about a month ago because it was made of that stuff and I had no idea how to go about fixing it up to look nice.

    1. I'll follow up on it. I was thinking I'd peel off the bad laminate and siding, paint the sides dark brown and decoupage the surface. Perhaps cover the surface with table top resin.
