Thrifted Collection: The Rainbow of Vintage Suitcases

I've seared your retinas with a hyperactive blitz of skittles-colored vintage suitcases...and this ain't all of them.  Today I'm the Pimp of Suitcases, I've gotta sell (e-mail me if you want one) these big beautiful bad boys and make room to bring in more.

As a summer-spirited wanderer I'm drawn to suitcases. It's not just their bold shapes, practicality, or double-use for storage that attracts me. I wonder where they've gone in their lives. I hope the people I sell them to take them out on adventures too. In the meantime, I've had fun loading them up with goodies for my own mini kitschy-tacky Florida road trips.

What do you do with your vintage suitcases? Storage? Decoration? What "vintage stories" are your favorites? Many people love postcards and photographs...

Thrifted Collections: Vintage McCoy Pottery and Other Fun Planters

I mentioned Planters in my Top 5 Things I Can Never Resist at the Thrift Store post. You can tell from these pictures and thrift haul posts that I'm mildly obsessed with them: with so many sizes, shapes, and bright colors, who can stop at one?

I've continued to encounter them nearly every visit to the flea market; my collection has really stacked up! As much as I love admiring them at the house, I'm finally ready to let them go as a group. I rarely build up a big collection before placing them in my antique mall booth, so I'm curious to see how these will do in the shop.

I've filled four quirky ones with beautiful shade-friendly tropicals and left the rest empty. The picture above shows three of my planters sitting patiently on a bamboo table in Treasure House, waiting to go home with a fellow plant lover. I have a feeling these would do better online than in the stores, but it doesn't hurt to try it and see what happens?

What's your biggest vintage collection? Any Favorites? Mine may seem like planters but the biggest collection is probably books. Delicious, buttery books. I think I'll dive into one now...

What Are You Collecting from the Thrifts Right Now...?

I've got some sneaky crafts in the pipeline, so I've been picking up the necessary vintage supplies while hitting up the thrift stores and flea markets over the past few months. What are you collecting from the thrift store lately? Here's my haul....

Vintage Tool Boxes! I already hinted at what I'm going to do with vintage tool boxes in a past post. For now, I'm scooping any delicious ones I find with some nice patina and texture. Bright red-orange is my favorite color, so I love these two.

McCoy Pottery Planters! I fell in love with vintage McCoy pottery planters this year and I've been discovering so many lovely ones over the past few months. You can probably guess what I'll be using these for, the result will be interactive!

Toys-up-the-Wazoo: I'll be back to making fun art from my toys as soon as possible. Until then, when I find unique toys for a good price they must be mine!

Vintage Playing Cards: I'll post some fun craft tutorials involving vintage cards soon. Until then, my eye is always peeled for them.

My thrifted collections are coming along nicely. I'll have to share a new thrift list soon, I'll be hunting for a lot of supplies and bits around the house (like chairs my friends don't fall out of!) and for the Thrift Core Brick and Mortar shop too!

The hunt for store supplies has already extended to curbsides and dumpsters! I love free things. I'll have to show you my lucky curbside finds next!

What Are You Hunting for right now?
