Things I Didn't Buy at the Thrift Store: Pirate Thrift, Pillage and Plunder

Pirates eat rocks and shit gunpowder. Given the choice between rotting alive from scurvy or eating an orange a Pirate barks, "Yar, pass the meat 'n rum and be quick about it!" Who could resist a thrift store with pirate branding?! Pillaging is the perfect analogy for the thrift hunt.

Pillage & Plunder Thrift & Retro Shop started in a tiny box of a building in St. Augustine, Florida. The small box was replaced with a larger, more traditional shop further back in the same lot. After perusing their new digs I was impressed, as always, with the selection of mod, retro goods. I went home with a few pieces for sale from their "dollar box" out front, and left the rest behind. I love the shop, but their retro goodies were out of a reseller's price range:

This is what you see when you first walk in. It's organized, quaint, and filled with colorful vintage finds. More curated than the average Thrift Store, but not at the level of a vintage shop or boutique.

All the pretty Japanese things tempted me! I love these three items staged on top of a beautiful retro ash tray.

Love the glasses here, and how everything's arranged in the shelves.

More cups and trays to tease my cup 'n tray fetish. Beautiful!

And a perfect suitcase to tease some more.

I love the mugs, pitcher, and duck, too!

I would have loved to hang these gorgeous Japanese style cross-stitched pieces in my bedroom. I picture them looking nice on either side of a bed above matching nightstands.

This doctor's bag (I'm assuming, anyone else have a lead on this) has a lot of character!

I love these vintage smalls with chains attached, they're hard to find in good shape like this!

And I love everything in this shot, especially the mushroom.

And the favorite thing I didn't buy is this gorgeous squirrel wall-hanging, very whimsical and cute.

What have you left behind at the thrift store lately? What's tempting you in these photos? So many goodies...

    1. Same here, I have a LOT stored away to sell. I made my first big flea market trip in a while to get some new goodies yesterday.

  3. One thing I would never pass by on the road: a Pirate thrift shop!!! What a fun find! Oh, BTW...I think that black leather bag is a salesman's sample case of some sort. My dad was in sales all his life and he had many such cases!

Squirrel would have come home with me. It would have been so happy in my home in the woods.

    1. Squirrel would have suited your cute vintage abode perfectly :) I had to leave him behind 'cause he was something like $15.

  7. I left behind a few great bags today, but they just wanted way too much for them. I'm having a purse thing right now, so I would have had a hard time leaving that black bag behind.

    1. I went a little crazy at the flea market this weekend, I've been good at ignoring my fetishes lately but came back with a suitcase I didn't need this time...and even more glasses.

  8. I did long for those, too. Scared to use them with my keen ability to break anything made of glass...

  9. That looks like a fun shop! Hmmm..$15.00 for the squirrel doesn't leave to much meat on the bone for a reseller. The shop till looks like fun and I would have a hard time not coming home with something from there. I love those green glasses!

    1. Yep, I don't like paying more than $5 for one item unless I KNOW it's going to sell for a lot. I've become spoiled by low flea market pricing.
