Thrift Haul: Vintage Flea Market Super Bargains and Eclectic Vintage Art Galore

I almost skipped my weekly hunt, but was lured to the flea market by a need for sunshine, fresh vintage, and fruit from the many produce vendors. Glad I ventured out, I scored a tidy haul of beautiful vintage for a song:

This huge, beautiful kitten hook rug piece is mounted to a piece of wood. The kitties will be joining a similar groovy owl piece I have hanging in my Southern Crossing booth. -----> On Etsy

I try to avoid wall hangings but I've had luck in the past with faux bamboo scroll pieces in the past. These will be headed to Southern Crossing soon, but if you'd like any of them I'm selling them for $7.00 each.

They depict three different species of birds and have gorgeous texture, lovely pieces.

I also happily found these two bits of slightly creepy 1960s big eye art at the bottom of a box covered in a layer of dust. I'm selling them for $9.00 each or $15.00 for the pair if anyone's interested.

And more in the way of art! Hard to see in the photo but there's some nice texture on this large vintage prints. It's heading to Southern Crossing and Etsy soon, I'm selling it for the low price of $10.00 if anyone's interested!

And I still have three beautiful brown satchels left. They're like three shades of chocolate, raspberry, light and medium. I dunno, something about buttery brown bags, I love to collect and sell them. Gotta catch 'em all. Selling Raspberry for $18, Light Brown for $12 and the largest bag for $12, it would make a soft and cozy travel bag. ((Check out the Cherry Purse on Etsy))

These two make a lovely pair. I love clear tea glasses and couldn't resist this sweetly flowered pair. Fun how the plaque pretends to match, selling the plaque for $9.00 if anyone's interested, it's heading to Southern Crossing soon.-----> On Etsy

This gorgeous vintage lamp will illuminate my antique mall space nicely, I love how it's white rather than yellow light. Much easier on the eyes and nice illumination at night. Selling it for $9 via the blog if anyone's interested! -----> On Etsy

I found these exact decanters at the same flea market before, they sold well in Southern Crossing. This time I'll also have them on Etsy. Selling them for $12 each if you're interested! They're beautiful pieces. -----> On Etsy

And I nearly forgot this cute little trivet. I try to avoid smalls but this one came home with me anyway. Selling it for $4.00 if anyone would like 'er!

And a final odd piece I couldn't put down, this lightweight shield with details in gold. It reminds me of a couple of old friend who'd have killed for it! The background is velvet, the gold detail is plastic and it's very lightweight. Selling it for $7.00 if anyone's interested, It would make a very unique gift!

One of my favorite scores of the day was this Better Homes and Gardens Handyman's Handbook. I now have three editions of that same Garden Book and four different types of these Better Homes and Gardens vintage binder books in total. I LOVE the very mod late 50s illustrations inside, so hilarious. Check out the insides on Etsy! Mr. Handyman doesn't stop smoking for anything! That pipe stays in his mouth at all times!

  1. Those are some sweet finds! I have been on buying hiatus because sales are slow and I had to get honest with myself about the backlog of merch I hadn't yet listed. Plus, I have sort of a big stockpile of things that aren't really right for my Etsy store or my booth and I need to move those somewhere-- I don't know if I should do like a clothes exchange party or garage sale when the weather cools. Or just donate. It is starting to drive me nuts!

    1. I feeel your pain there, lady. I wanted to put myself on yet another hiatus myself but really felt like I need some fresh merch. I recently cleaned out my stockpile and some books are going to a used book store to sell, some on clearance at Southern Crossing, and others to the thrift store. Always a process of clearing things out ;p Good luck to ya!

  2. No way! I found that Handyman book this weekend, too!!!! I just love it -- the cover art alone made it a worthwhile purchase. I have the BH&G decorating book that matches it...now I need to find the gardening one!

  6. I had to miss my weekly hunt, so I'm glad that you got to go on yours!

How much did you sell the peacock/pheasant decanter for at your mall, if you don't mind me asking. I had seen a set similar, with glasses at a thrift store. Great finds as always & the calico totally looks like my cat - Kleo!

    1. I believe I've been selling them for $18 each. People rarely insist I price things higher but they have for these ones. They may be able to fetch more than that.

  8. I had a productive weekend....finished my own garage sale Friday at 1:00, then ran to an estate sale in my area only to hear the lady running the sale tell me I had 5 minutes to look around because they were closing early. I was able to fill up the back of my truck with an assortment of items. I've never bought stuff that quickly before. I also hit a few morning sales on Sat and went back to the estate sale. Prices were great! And I was able to install everything (the smalls) today when I visited Southern Crossing. Yay for busy Satruday buyers!!

  10. Could that plaque with the horse and flowers be some kind of cutting board? What does the other side look like?

Last week I attended warehouse sale put on by a local estate sale company. Every quarter, they hold a sale at their warehouse of the items that did not sell at their regular estate sales with marked down prices. I bought a bunch of box lots, each one with a different theme. One of my favorite finds was a vintage Fisher Price Little People dollhouse. It came with some furniture and people, but was incomplete. Still the house was in great shape, and I've had a lot of luck selling these types of vintage toys in the past.

    1. It probably is, the other side is plain and has a sticker on it. It's in great condition with no cut marks if it is a cutting board, thank goodness! That sale sounds amazing, I love vintage Fisher Price Little People goodness!
