A Teaching Workshop and Retreat at The Hammock Resort in Palm Coast, Florida

It's 3:30AM as I'm typing this. After a stimulating retreat (an oxymoron, I know) I feel creatively reinvigorated and I want to keep working while the fire's still lit. With making, you have to chase the elusive muse while it's there! I just created a detailed outline for my upcoming local weight loss bootcamp, the rough draft for a raw vegan book for sale locally (eBook on that to come as well, it will be longer and more in-depth),  and outlines for the Green Lotus Studios teachers. It's time to slow down and look back and the beautiful photos from my short trip to wind down!

We spent most our time at the dining room table with out computers typing lesson plans, class descriptions, and learning new programs. What I explored of this massive resort was absolutely beautiful. The whole area is small and charming and I'll certainly be back to explore gardens and museums.

The kitchen was hilariously over-packed for a 2.5 day stay, filled with herbs, spices, and healthy(ish) things aplenty to snack on. At least two bottles of much-needed wine was consumed. Jennifer made sourdough bread and biscuits from scratch for breakfast and we all had to huddle around it with camera and phones to photograph its majesty! You don't get homemade sourdough biscuits and local orange marmalade and honey every day!

On the final day when work was declared "complete" after a brainstorming session my mom and I snuck off to the heated indoor pool and spa for a short, relaxing soak. The next day I left anxious to take off with my new career as a holistic/creative educator, body care provider and writer.

If anyone has any favorites in Palm Coast, or anywhere to recommend, in Florida or Georgia PLEASE let me know it the comments. I'm always itching for adventure. Extra points if it's kitschy, of course.

  1. This looks like a lovely time! Always good to get away and re-group, right? Hm...the last time I was in Florida I LOVED the Winter Park neighborhood. Ate at a lovely Turkish restaurant. Hope that helps!

    1. Oh thank you, isn't that in Tampa? That's been recommended before, I have to check it out. Can't wait :D

  2. Well, it's not kitschy, but Washington Oaks is my most favorite place on the coast. It's a short...short drive from Hammock Beach. Beautiful old growth live oaks, rose garden, citrus field (great to go when they're blossoming!). If you've never went, I highly recommend checking it out. If you like old history, Princess Place Preserve is also very close by. A Princess lived there. :) Free to visit and it's right on the water. Home of Florida's first in-ground pool.

    1. The studio owner kept saying she knew she'd get us to get a lot of work done if she 'locked us in an ivory tower'. Looking out the window at an amazing beach, pools, gardens and tubs was lovely. And it was cold as hell so we weren't tempted to go out ;) haha

  4. I didn't see a way to comment on your 'February Goal Updates' post so I hope you don't mind my commenting here ... I just wanted to thank you for that post. There must be something about February (after the 'I can do it all' mania of January) because I came to some similar conclusions (things like: why must I have four blogs? wouldn't one or two be more than enough?). Anyway good luck with March, it sounds like you've really zeroed in on the important stuff!

    1. The comments were turned off on it since I was out of town. No problem coming here to comment at all :) I feel like a lot of us in the indie biz/blog world are realizing the importance of slowing down and doing less! Right now I'm still in recovery mode, selling off one business so I can -finally- just breath and relax! Can't wait. Thanks for sharing that you were in the same boat.
