Thrift Haul: Art, Freebies, Furniture, and The Secret Scores You Haven't Seen

A friend gave me this gorgeous vintage school desk when he moved. Love this piece!

I  filter vintage, thrifted bits, and freebies in and out of my life like hookers go through Johns. Speaking of hookers, I have a similar shameless approach for accepting free things. I've a rep as a reseller/thrifty person/cheap-bastard-who-buys-nothing and friends and acquaintances occasionally treat me to boxes of goodness. Most of it gets filtered back to the thrift stores, quickly sold, or listed for sale. Here are some hidden secret scores you didn't see:
I do believe I missed this one, my mom collects Mexican folk art and this piece was perfect. The colors perfectly match her vintage kitchen and the lady is gardening! Mom and I love gardening. I kept it off the blog because it was a gift. Anyone else have thrifted gifts hiding in the closet?

Another treasure trove of hidden gems include the following sets of beautiful pyrex mugs. These and many other goodies were kindly donated by Becca (See her guest post on finding mod here, her collection is stunning). I took ample photos of them a while back but then lost all my computer files! It's been fun to finally get them recaptured and online. (See the set above on Etsy)

Here's a lovely set with blue detail. (See it on Etsy)

Another with green and yellow. I'd appreciate it if anyone knew the actual pattern titles for these. (See it On Etsy)

This green striped set is quite handsome. (Hanging out on Etsy)

And a minty green set, they're made of the stuff inside your Klondike bar. Refreshing! Need to re-take the photos those, so hard to get the accurate color right. They are even more beautiful in person. (On Etsy)

I see this pattern everywhere, what's it called?! I must know! (See it on Etsy)
I love this novelty mug- you're not the boss of me mug, I'll taste what I want! (On Etsy)
These trivets have been hanging around Thrift Core headquarters for ages, finally got them on Etsy.

Another set of animals hiding in the shadows for a time are these ones I'm now trying to sell as a set. Just tired of sitting them sit around. I need to force myself to stop buying knick-knacks, working on it! (See it on Etsy)

I've had this gorgeous little Japanese teacup and saucer sitting in the shadows for ages, glad to finally show it off. (On Etsy.)

And I love the neon orange of this vintage napkin ring set. I always see them as perfect to sit out for Thanksgiving. (On Etsy)

And to go with the beautiful Japanese cup, lovely Japanese plates. (On Etsy)

And a final never-seen score for now, this vintage scale. I love the colors and used it as my trusty postal scale for a while until I found one that goes up to 10lbs. Still have yet to order a needed digital one, these old ones do the trick. (On Etsy)

Group and Daily Deals? I'm cleaning out my merchandise stockpile so daily deals are returning to social media. Follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for crazy low deals of gorgeous vintage. I also make deals on Etsy items with readers and often do group deals, so send me an e-mail if there's anything you see and would like.

    1. Mine are in the bedroom closet, hopefully all Christmas shopping will be done well in advance and we can just relax all December. Except for Christmas Etsy order, of course :)

  3. That desk is awesome! I think the green and gold mugs are the "sunshine" pattern. Here's a different etsy listing with them- http://www.etsy.com/listing/92443821/set-of-8-vintage-pyrex-sunshine-cups?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=summer+impressions+sunshine&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all

  4. I think I had a desk like that when I went to school oh... maybe --years ago. lol I also love the green cups. Wonderful finds. My daughter found lots of Pyrex this week, but we left so much behind because we can't store it all. You'd love going out with us. So much out there all of a sudden.

  5. I don't do real well with figurines either. But I cant help myself. If anything, I tell myself, they are really good for photo props. So its okay that they don't sell, because I think they add something extra to my pics. I had a really cute kitschy mouse that was the best prop in my photos, and I was so disappointed when it sold!

    1. They do add to photos for sure! And I don't mind looking at them until they sell, either. :D

  6. It's Summer Impressions & PyrexLove.com has almost all the patterns. If they don't have it listed there are a few ladies on Instagram that always know the more rare pieces. Just hash tag Pyrexlove or Pyrexhelp and someone will tag them :)

  8. Booo! I'd loose my mind if I lost all my files. One time I had a memory card go bad, and I begged the husband to spend four hours and $15 to get it back with fancy software. I back up everything now!
Great freebies! I don't know what that pattern is called, but I'm pretty sure it was made for restaurants. I don't use a digital scale either. Why spend the money when the old ones work just fine. : )

    1. There's a silver lining to my file loss. With the help a crazy tech proficient astrophysicist grad student friend (throwing that in because the task of retrieving those files has proved to be...wait for it, ASTROnomical) I found a program (disk digger)that may retrieve the files from my back up drive. I'm treading softly though. It HURT so bad to lose those files, it set me behind with work, too ;p

Thanks for the hint with the pattern, agreed, the old one is serving me well, don't feel a need to splurge on a new digital one at the moment.

  12. I sold one of those white milk glass mugs with the green stripes - or at least one that looks like yours - on eBay awhile ago. Good luck with yours.

Love the Mexican folk art piece - the colors and the handmade look of it. How apropos that the lady is gardening :0)
