Vegan Feasting: My Go-To Vegan Recipe Sites, Books and Inspiration

Raw vegan falafel balls from a favorite raw vegan YouTube channel. Check the video here

Food is my happy place, I love stuffing myself with as much whole, raw, unprocessed fruits and vegetables as humanly possible. When you're vegan you have to eat more to feel full and that's fine, I love being The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar! I may have been easily bribed to drive a friend to an important meeting for 6 hours total with the promise of a vegan feast for payment. And oh, it was worth it.

Recently I've transitioned from a high fat raw vegan diet to a low fat one where my main carb fuel is fruit. I'm still playing with recipes to share, but here are my favorite sources for easy, delicious vegan recipes. Omnivores and herbivores alike can benefit from adding these recipes to your diet:

1) Easy to Be Raw:  Megan's shared dozens of easy and delicious raw vegan recipes on her website and YouTube channel. Her videos are inspiring, funny, and educational. I love to watch 'em while I work.

2) Fully Raw Kristina: Another raw vegan channel with plenty of delicious raw recipes, education, and inspiration. I drool over the fruit and veggie filled co-op Kristina runs, we need one in every city!

3) Ani's Raw Food Essentials and Ani's 15 Day Fat Blast: For a while there I couldn't stop eating recipes from either of these books, now I mostly use these books and inspiration for adapting lower-fat versions. Both books have some of the tastiest recipes I've EVER eaten. Excellent books for the beginner. She's got great YouTube videos, too. My fav salads from her books are here and my favorite desert and meal here.

4) Handmade in The Present Moment: Present Moment is my favorite restaurant ever. Everything I've made from their gourmet raw vegan cook book is absolutely delicious. Not always super easy, but so worth the wait.

On Blending: I easily use my vitamix 3+ times a day, it's such a vital tool for healthy, easy eating and worth every penny I spent on it. If you're in the market for one, order through this link for free shipping.

I like to photograph my vegan treats on instagram if you're curious to see what I eat throughout the day. I'll have an odd cooked vegan snack now and then but prefer to stay as close to 100% raw as possible. I keep it quick and simple, adding greens to my fruit smoothies and eating  easy recipes assembled with a few, simple ingredients. I'll share prep and storage tips and homemade recipes soon, for now, going to take a snack break! And instagram it! Yup, I'm that guy! (Lost on what "Raw" food is? Read here.)

Got any recipe blogs, books, or YouTube channels to share? Please do share in the comments. I've got recipes for raw vegan pasta dishes, marinara, nostalgic smoothies ice cream, pad thai, burritos, and more coming up!

  2. Delicious vegan food is one reason why the number of vegans has doubled in less than 3 years. Here are two uplifting videos that will help people understand just some of the implications of this lifestyle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKr4HZ7ukSE and http://www.veganvideo.org

  5. Thanks for sharing. The only person I'm familiar with on your list is Ani, whose cookbooks I've read about. Glad to know her recipes work and are delicious.

Have you ever heard of Roxanne Klein? She was one of the first premier raw food chefs in the country and had her own restaurant. She even wrote a cookbook with Charlie Trotter, called - what else, "Raw."
