Garden Plan 2010

The first sprouts of 2010 are from a Purple Potato. Propagated from one purchased at Farmer's Ram.

Last year I was ambitious and optimistic about gardening; this year I'm cautious and calculated. A flood of biblical proportions killed our hard work the summer of 2009. Nearly all of my vegetables drowned, and my innocent gardening enthusiasm died along with our prized crops.

But it's a fresh year, a fresh start. It took me months to heal, but I'm ready to start anew. These are the gardens I will nurture for 2010:

I Learned to Knit: I can do ANYTHING. I am BATMAN.

Remember that indescribable elation you felt on your first bike cruise sans training wheels? When you earned your driver's license? (Your first orgasm?)

I have a story of equal magnitude. I did what I determined was impossible: I learned how to knit. I am Invincible. I am BATMAN!

I found The Last Chance Diet book a couple of months ago at The Thrift Center.

The first page of the book alone helped me with its valuable information. It told me this:

A Thrifty Saturday- Suggestive Book Covers, Dead Bosses, Oh my...

I should have bought this. I love Teenagers. They bag my groceries, and they'll be eye candy when I grow up to be a Cougar.
Mother had a rare Saturday off- so we spent quality time together indulging in one of our favorite pass times...thrifting.  I thought I'd share some of my favorites shots from the thrift escapade. It was an amusing journey through labyrinthine-like thrift and antique stores today.

A Gift Made from Thrifted Fabric

I presented a coworker with this fun little owl made from thrifted fabrics today. The fabrics were purchased during a thrift shopping haul that I briefly described in this post.

The First Thrift-Haul of the New Year (Or Confessions of a Japanophile)

It's official. I'm not allowed near another Thrift or Antique Store for at least two weeks. I used shopping as therapy and bought home a few goods on Saturday, it lifted by spirits but it was detrimental to my Crusade for Organization (Or, "The War on Chaos"). I'll admire my prizes to fill the Thrift/Antique store void in the meantime.

This is my haul from Saturday January 9, 2009:

Antique Store Therapy

Saturday was stressful and freezing (I've had enough of this Record Freeze. I want Spring back.) While driving home from a frozen day at the farmer's market I spotted an Antique Store. I dove within and let the warm, full, eclectic, cozy interior maze of vignettes melt my stress away.

I now own the Ice-O-Mat, a steal at $7.00. Temping to bring the vintage fabric valance home as well.
