Thrift Haul: A Family of Owl and More Vintage Goodness

I made my triumphant return to the flea market on a wet and rainy Sunday. Most of my usual vendors were "rained out," but I managed to bring home a quality haul of vintage regardless. It was definitely worth the treks through muddy earth!

My favorite find is the vintage lunch bag. It came with two thermoses and a lunch box. I found it at an estate sale where it was one of the few affordable scores.

I love the masculine vibe of the set and the anchor pattern on each thermos. I'm selling the whole set for $15.00 today, e-mail me if you'd like it!

These vintage Florida souvenir plates were an interesting score. A couple are a little rusted, but that kind of rustic character tends to turn around quickly at the antique store. We'll see soon enough!

Yuko wants ALL of the owls! I love this "family" of little owl trivets. These are perfect for tea or coffee with friends; there's enough to provide each friend with a little table-protecting owl trivet for their cups and the big owl could be used for the pot!

I'm making this owl set today's "daily deal" and setting the price at $15.00 for the whole family. Please e-mail me if interested in them.

It's been a while since I did it big and hit up many thrifts to score ample finds. I think after my office is completely unpacked I'll have to schedule a big-time hunt with some reseller pals! But until then, back to work unpacking with me...

So Tell Me: What did you find this weekend?

    1. Yep! If they don't sell immediately I might paint/sell them for that purpose. But I'd rather sell them in their authentic state.

  3. The owl "family" is adorable. I have one of the small ones that belonged to my grandmother. Super cute the way you've lined them up on the bookshelf!

    1. I know how you feel. I temporarily beat myself up when I declutter and get rid of sentimental items, but it's so nice to have a fresh slate, too!

  5. It was an owl weekend. I found a vintage porcelain made in Japan owl music box. I can't wait to get it listed on my store. It was rainy and damp here also.

  6. Great finds Van...I can't believe you slugged through the rain to go to the flea market yesterday...ack!! As for me, what didn't I find this weekend?? It was a great buying day Saturday with two major sales in my area, one at a church (my fav) and one at a school. I found so much great stuff from galvanized tubs, wooden furniture, mirrors, frames, small items like a gum ball machine, a McCoy smiley face mug and a Howdy Doody puppet in mint condition. My girls think he's creepy, but I'm hoping someone will get a kick out of it. I will post a booth update shortly...feel free to check it out! The mall was busy today!!

    1. I definitely will. I have so much work to do at both antique stores, I want to completely rebrand and change out the merch. But first, gotta unpack the entire office...

  8. Oh I love the owl family! :) And you know what I'm about to say...
I have the same one. Hahah! No surprises since we have a psychic thrift connection, lol! But, I only have one. He's got stained glass where the holes are, and it is actually a stand-up tealight holder!
I love the family. The wee ones are so cute!
See mine here, in one of my collections posts at the blog. (Sorry, the picture is a little fuzzy for some reason!)

  9. Lovely owls. I'm totally digging the dude lunch set you have going too. I can just imagine construction workers of yesteryear bringing sandwiches and coffee to work.

I scored some owl goodies as well and this paperback memoir by Paul Theroux called "The Great Railway Bazaar," all about his travels from London to Asia by train. Sounds like an interesting vintage read to me. (Photos will be posted soon). I found these both at my first grand opening of a brand new thrift store, which I covered for Let's Go Thrifting. It's the biggest one on the east coast! Very exciting!
