Thrift Haul: Free and Nerdy Thrift Finds (With Aliens. And Batman!)

Why, what exciting new backdrop is this? Oh my, it's my fresh new pad! The New Apartment is immense and ready to host more thrift and curbside finds for me. But I'll show you more of that later, let's chat about the thrift finds!

This adorable lemonade stand was a lucky curbside find. It will live in my office hosting notes and perhaps office supplies until we open up shop, where we'll find some sort of fun new use for it. What do you think, should we leave it white or give it a fresh coat of bright green paint?

This lovely vintage table is another trash find to me. It looks like it could be from the 40s and it's a bit wobbly and rough, but I have a special DIY planned for this one. I bet I'll be able to turn it around for $200 once I'm done with it!

Continuing with the table trend, I found this cute little table at the flea market. Again, it's in rough shape but I have some painty-crafty fun planned for it. For now it's hosting some books in the hallway while I unpack my office.

This "Mammy" pitcher and bowl slipped through the cracks, I don't believe I've posted her before but I found her again while unpacking. I haven't been able to sell it in the antique store and I sure hope a collector emails me to take her off my hands! (Hint hint!)

I went to a mini comic/collector con yesterday and found this amazingly hilarious Molder and Alien X Files toy set. My loopy sleep-deprived self cackled manically and proudly presented the vendor with $3.00 for this treasure. I want to plot some fun new Toys Behaving Badly photographs with these two!

An even better find was this Batman and Ragman comic book for a mere fifty cents! I love it and have some fun crafts and art projects in mind for it already! (Scanning the pages, not ripping them out, of course! For shame!)

Mmm....delicious comic book goodness. I can't wait to sit and devour this one, but first I must get to work organizing and photographing exactly One Million things!

So Tell Me: What did you find this weekend?

    1. Saaaame here. My entrepreneurial little spirit would have exploded with ideas of how to use it to make money. I don't think I pointed out that the front panels are chalkboard for writing whatever you're selling! Fun!

  4. Great trash finds Van!! I scored some amazing deals Friday at an estate sale that was family-run so it was super cheap....gotta love it!! Finding such good deals on Friday meant I took the weekend off....it was a nice change of pace. I love the lemonade booth...lots of ways to jazz it up!

    1. You lucky dog! I'm now allowed to do it big for a little bit while I unpack and sort existing merch. I can't wait to hit up some estate sales, thrifts, and fleas full force soon!

Yes indeed, so many ideas for the lemonade stand. It's going to be such a fun display in the shop!

    1. The books and bits will be put away neatly soon, but I don't mind books stacked around in the meantime. :)

Actually with my book addiction as it is there will be more stacking up in no time...

  9. The lemonade stand is screaming out for paint. Green seems a good color, but it needs purty accents too. The new place looks amazing! Great score apartment hunting too!

  10. Good luck with the new place, Van. And that is one sweet lemonade stand! This weekend I found a few interesting things that I didn't need, per se. But for the time being they're right at home.

    1) A child's size chair perfect for Mr. Marbles, my ventriloquist's dummy.
    2) A plush centipede that reminds me of a stuffed caterpillar I had when I was a kid. (Remember those...with all the legs and the sneakers? Straight out of the 80's?) Anyhoo this one just happens to be six feet long.
    3) Today I found two entire albums filled with vintage photos from the 50's -70's. They're amazing. It just looks like I'll be scanning a lot these next few days.

  11. That lemonade stand is adorable. I believe it is made by Pottery Barn Kids and sells for well over $100. Lucky you that you found it at the curb (the best way to find treasures)!

  14. I am so happy for you, your place looks so bright and sunny, just like you...oh, gag, let me detach my tongue from sticking to my the roof of my mouth with all that sweetness. Seriously, it looks great, but where is the little girl kitty? Hiding or exploring or both? I think you should trade mark her and do patches with her, she is a star!

    1. She hiding in the first photo on the floor, she loves exploring the apartment and perching on the many windowsills. :) It's seriously tempting to do some Yuko-themed branding, she makes an excellent mascot!
