Thrift Haul: Who Wants to Play Scrabble?

This week I left a lot behind and came home with one special item, this vintage scrabble board. I was saving my funds for the flea market, but car troubles kept me from checking it out. I'm not fretting, vintage will be waiting for me next time. (And staying warm indoors and getting caught up on writing wasn't so bad, either!) Besides, this one find had enough charm and detail to tide me over until the next thrift visit.

Like my vintage Risk board this game board is fully of whimsy and would look beautiful hung on the wall in an parlor or game room. By my count there are 56 (!) beautiful color illustrations on the game board. Just goes to show you how Old Junk is just made better, can you pick something out of a department store right now with so many hand painted details these days?

The box has seen better days but the board itself is pristine, it's shiny and brand new like it's never been used. As much as I love this, I am selling it. Just drop me a line if you're interested!

What did you find this weekend?

  1. I check this blog, daily. It is seriously my fave thrift blog. I just gotta say that OMG I bought that same thing last week. I love the colors and vintage pictures. I've got the board displayed on top of a bookshelf and I've got the letters put away with my craft supplies. Great thrift score.

  2. That is wonderful! We cleared out our old game closet this summer and in it were a few vintage things. My son hung them on the wall of our video game room. This would make a super cute display.

  6. I will confess this past year I ebcame addicted to buying scrabble pieces (or whole games) and dominos wherever I found them at a good price. My reason is to use the pieces for crafting. For children's graphics and illustrations I am again looking at the Little Golden Books and games like Uncle Wiggly and CandyLand. I have also gathered a number of Old Maid decks.

  7. Somewhere along the way however, turns against them, Lego 7596, known as the trash compactor Escape, which shows the not-so-friendly.
