Thrift Haul: Mod Suitcases, Lamps, and Planters, of Course!

The planter, cup and suitcase fetishes win again! I needed fresh new merch to perk up my antique booth space and was pleased with my finds this week. Here's the lovely vintage I found hopping from store to store like a thrifty hummingbird looking for prized nectar:

The inside of this brown suitcase is in perfect condition, I love the silky brown lining, and this may be the cleanest suitcase I ever found! I liked the striped scarf too, something about the colors called out to me. I have a personal one I use that's a lot like it.

I really tried to put this lustroware plastic sugar canister back, but I couldn't resist. The typography won me over. It's chilling on Etsy waiting for the right person to take it home. I'll sell it to an interested blog reader for $8.00. Yes, I know I should re-do these photos...may do that tomorrow.

I'd never seen anything like this adorable 1960s (?) or 70s jewelry box. This box is 7 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide. With the top open it's 18 inches tall.

Lift the top and there's a mirror and drawers for storing personals. This would be nice to organize sewing bits and art supplies, too. I'm selling this for $15.00 if anyone's interested.

And behold this gorgeous lamp! I love how this type of lamp provides nice task lighting while being beautiful on their own like a mini sculpture. I sold this one but I have another very similar one available if anyone's interested.

I've been trying to resist filling my storage space with more glasses but these customized beer steins were too interesting to leave behind.

Continuing the trend...I have a weakness for vintage things with cards depicted on them! I love the black, red, yellow, and white color scheme on this glass.

Oh, surprise, a pretty little planter made its way home with me. It cost pocket change, it simply had to join its brothers and sisters in the storage space.

This "Breadwinner" and "Homemaker" milk glass coffee mug duo is one of my favorite vintage "finds" ever. Though it's not a find, it was another kind gift to resell from my boyfriend's mom. I love the illustrations on colors on these!

Vintage Puppy "Get Well Soon" Planter on Etsy
Nope, I couldn't stop at one planter. This pretty puppy dog planter is in perfect condition and was made in Japan.

For those who've been wondering, the Yuko is still around, watching me take pictures of things! Right now she's by my side on the chair's arm as I type this. I'm off to work at the kitchen and then ship out merch! Times are busy but I'm enjoying the challenge!

It's All FOR SALE: Simply send an e-mail if you'd like anything you see in today's post. If you buy from me directly the prices are sometimes lower than they are on Etsy.

  1. Great finds! The scarf is gorgeous. It's funny, last week I picked up a version of your light blue Samsonite case in a light yellow. Gotta figure out how to pick or cut the lock someone left on it off.

Nice to see your Etsy store filling. I checked it out again and hope you don't mind me saying but if you could uncap all of the shop sections, it would be so much easier to read. On a portable device especially, they all run together. Although I ended up scrolling through all of the pages on your shop instead so maybe that's not a bad thing marketing-wise? LOL

    1. Thank you for the tip and checking it out. I rarely scroll mobile so that's good to know! The shop will fill LOTS this week.

  2. What a cute picture of your cat! They do find the interesting places to roost, don't they? Love that jewelry box, but no room here!

    1. Thanks for the tip, I didn't know "Holly Hobbie" was the name for the little bonnet girl line I see everywhere!

    2. My pleasure. Crafters who are into sewing go nuts for Holly Hobbie fabric paying crazy prices. But there is a definite interest and desire for Holly items here.

    3. Back again I've actually shared the Holly Hobbie link to Etsy on my blogs FB page. Hope someone pounces on it, it's so adorable. I'm holding myself back.

    4. Thanks again Trudie, I really appreciate it. I added "Holly Hobbie-like" to the description and will keep that in mind for similar items I find.

  8. Suitcases sell really well in the booth but I'm terrified to bring them home...or should I say what critters or bugs call the suitcase their home.

    1. I've never carried critters home to my knowledge (who knows, they could have crawled/flown away before I saw 'em!) but my mom did tell a horror story of a black widow in a sewing table.

  9. Awesome haul! I have so many similar task lamps...I seem to find them all the time at the thrifts and estate sales, and usually they are cheap enough that I can't resist buying them!
