Thrift Haul: Lucky Modern Yard Sale Finds

I scored big at two yard sales this weekend. The first one had boxes upon boxes of retro treasure to sort through, the second one had the Mid Century Modern China Cabinet pictured above. I paid $15 for the classic piece! (Less than the Walmart particleboard bookshelves that sat in its place.)

Of course, I uncovered a smattering of other vintage finds. Some will be revealed in more detail after some cleaning and fresh coats of paint.

I found some lovely books- and even some book art. All are destined for my antique store booth; after I peek through 'em...

I wish my camera accurately captured the beauty and depth of this large 70s wall hanging. There's a layer of gauze that makes the whole piece mimic diffused light. It's like a window view of  a real forest.

I've never seen anything like these antique conversation cards. I got all three for 50 cents. The price was tragically scribed on the front of the box with sharpee.

Other than the gorgeous mid century modern china cabinet, my favorite find was this set of 50s Siestaware. I love the colorful tiki theme! You can see more detailed photos of this set on my Thrift Collect post Siestaware: 1950s and Tiki for the Win!

  1. Well Van, where do I start...
I could go on and on (and on!) about all of the amazingly wonderful things you found on the weekend but that would be gushing, so I wont. Let's just say I am very envious of your finds and remarkable luck.

  22. Great piece, can't believe that price, wow! My mom had one it has two sliding glass panels, she was going to leave it when she sold her house... it's mine now- love it.

  23. Jen: I can see where mine was supposed to have sliding glass panels in the front. Mine has some damage to be sure (faux wood laminate coming off the pine in places) - but it was $15! Can't argue with that price!
