Antique Store Teasing

I love the bookends, globe, and giant star fish combination.

I don't know about antique stores where you live, but ours tend to be filled with anything but real antiques. Regardless, a day spent antique store window shopping can leave you filled with robust inspiration to make your own projects and cool vintage vignettes in your own home. Here's a few things that inspired me this weekend:
In my eternal struggle not to bring more junk home I left behind this gorgeous fish. I like his tree stump and eternally sad looking expression. Someone give me 5 bucks!

This piece reminded me of my childhood in Italy. When I turned it around I saw that it was indeed made in Italy! It's a beautiful serving tray that was incredibly tempting. But knowing I didn't need I snuck a picture instead and saved $8.

If I had no willpower I'd start a collection of colorful vases. I love how they look stacked on a shelf with colorful abstract paintings hanging above them, they're beautiful works of art. I leave you with the piece below, a quirky painting that might inspire you to bust out the acrylics this weekend and make an attractive graphic print for your home. Doesn't his eye remind you of the vase in the previous picture?

  1. You find the most interesting stuff! Love the displays, they are so random yet so pleasing. And I am on a vase/glass binge right now, love to combine them with unexpected things. Now I want to go shopping!

  2. I hope thrift and antique store owners don't mind that I arrange their wares into pleasing vignettes while I shop around. "It's good for sales!" I'll plead when they finally call the cops on me...
